The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) has confirmed through federal government sources that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has initiated, or soon will initiate, specific enforcement actions in major metropolitan areas prior to the November 2nd Presidential election. Immigration Guidance for I-130 Petitioners with Spouse or Child in U.S. on K Visa - 09/16/04
The Nebraska Service Center advises U.S. citizens with I-130s for a spouse or child under 21 that is pending at NSC, where the dependent is present in the U.S. on a K-3 or K-4, to forward a copy of the I-130 receipt and the I-94 to a specific NSC address to have the dependent processed as an adjustement, rather than consular, case [ more ]

U.S. government revokes a visa issued to a prominent Swiss theologian - 09/13/04
Last week, the U.S. government revoked a visa it had issued to a prominent Swiss theologian, Tariq Ramadan, who had accepted a visiting profession position at the University of Notre Dame. Ramadan is a well-known Muslim scholar who is a strong advocate for democracy and an outspoken opponent of extremism and terrorism. [ more ]

USCIS Continues Rapid Expansion of InfoPass to District Offices Nationwide - 09/02/04
USCIS recently initiated InfoPass in the district offices in Anchorage, Atlanta, Detroit, Denver, Fresno, Guam, Honolulu, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Portland OR, Reno, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle, Spokane, Tucson, and Yakima. [ more ]
California Service Center to Process Certain I-130s from TSC and NSC - 09/02/04
The California Service Center (CSC) has advised AILA that Texas Service Center (TSC) and Nebraska Service Center (NSC) will be forwarding new I-130s to California Service Ce for processing. In addition, TSC will transfer pending immediate relative I-130s, as well as family-based preference cases with current priority dates, to CSC for processing. [ more ]
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Publishes Interim Rule Expanding and Amending US-VISIT - 09/02/04
An interim rule published August 31, 2004 states that, effective September 30, 2004, US-VISIT will be expanded to the 50 most highly trafficked land border ports, with all 50 ports to be identified no later than December 31, 2004. It also further defines those subject to US-VISIT to include individuals entering under VWP and other means. [ more ]
