Steven Garmo Conducts US Investment Visa Seminars in Amman, Jordan and Arbil, Iraq - 07/27/07
On July 25, 2007 Internationally renown attorney Steven N. Garmo conducted a successful seminar at the Crown Plaza, Amman, Jordan before a reserved crowd of more than 120 business persons. The seminar covered among other things the investment of visa, E-1/E-2 visa, L-1, intercompany transferee visa and the temporary worker visa. Attorney Garmo said that "The EB-5 Category is an excellent opportunity for many foreign nationals to become permanent residents of the United States quickly". The EB-5 Permanent Resident status involves making the investment, filing the appropriate petition at a CIS Service Center, and applying for an Immigrant Visa at a United States consulate or applying for Adjustment of Status in the United States.

Attorney Garmo is scheduled to conduct another Seminar at the Arbil International Hotel (formerly Sheraton Hotel), Arbil, Iraq on July 30, 2007 at 7 PM, Baghdad Time Zone. Mr. Garmo said " It is important to educate the Middle Eastern communities in Jordan and Iraq on US Employment Immigration Visa's in order to foster a better understanding of our Immigration laws and to encourage investment in the United States in light of the globalization of International commerce." Government Reopens July EB Adjustment Filings - 07/17/07
The government will be announcing shortly that it has reversed its July 2 announcement that the fiscal year 2007 employment based visa numbers had been used up and that it was going to refuse to accept adjustment of status filings during July. Instead, Secretary Chertoff advises that USCIS will keep the applications filed and reopen filings for a 31-day period from July 18 through August 17, 2007, in order to provide the same filing window people would have had if the July 2 actions had not taken place. Filers will be able to pay the July filing fees during the entire window period. [ more ]

DOS Announces that EB Visa Numbers are Unavailable - 07/02/07
DOS announced that effective Monday, 7/2/07, there will be no further authorizations in response to requests for EB preference cases. USCIS Announces Direct Filing Instructions for Forms I-129F, I-131, I-140,I-360, I-485, I-765, and I-907 - 07/02/07
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) today announced new “Direct Filing” instructions for additional immigration forms that were transitioned last year into the Bi-Specialization initiative. “Direct Filing” is the process by which USCIS requires customers to file their petitions and applications with the service center that will process the filings, based on the place of temporary employment or place of residence. California Service Center (CSC) Experiencing System Delays - 07/02/07
The California Service Center (CSC) is experiencing systems problems that are causing delays in the printing of certain notices. USCIS believes the delays are primarily affecting approval notices for cases decided between April 2007 and the present, although production of some receipt notifications may be affected as well. Immigration bill dies in the Senate;Cloture Fails, CIR Bill Withdrawn - 07/02/07
The Senate failed to invoke cloture on S. 1639 by a vote of 46-53, most likely forfeiting the opportunity to move forward with immigration reform this summer. Majority Leader Reid withdrew S. 1639 from the Senate floor, but reminded his colleagues that the 110th Congress is only six months into a two-year session and much work on this vitally important issue remains to be done.
