02/27/2003 Entry: "INS New Fee Schedule"

Effective today, (2/27/2003) the old fee schedule is back in place restoring asylum/refugee surcharges. There was a posting in the Federal Register today (attached) indicating such.

Effective today, the old fee schedule is back in place restoring asylum/refugee surcharges. There was a posting in the Federal Register today indicating such. Here are the highlights:
The increased fee schedule (included in attached notice) is effective again today, 2/27.

Any filings (via mail) received at the center through COB Monday (3/3) with the reduced fee will be accepted.

Any filings (via mail) postmarked on/before 2/27 with the reduced fee will be accepted.

Any filings (via mail) received after 3/3 with a postmark date after 2/27 will be rejected if the reduced fee is submitted.

Effective today, any filings received at the window must be submitted with the increased fee. Window filings with the reduced fee will be rejected.

Refunds will eventually be issued to those who previously overpaid when the reduced fee schedule was implemented on 1/24. HQ is still deciding how these refunds be issued.
